We're proud to share that the Amber Web3 Security team placed third out of 489 teams from around the world at the Blaz CTF 2023 competition organized by Fuzzland last week. Furthermore, team members also took third and sixth place at the prestigious Curta Cup CTF, adding to an impressive list of wins at ETHTaipei War Room Games 2023, Move CTF 2023, Paradigm CTF 2022, and so on. 

Guarding Crypto Assets with Proven Expertise

The Amber Web3 Security team safeguards clients' digital assets through multiple layers of defense. They perform stringent security assessments of smart contracts and systems prior to mainnet deployment. Once live, the team leverages our blockchain analytics platform to monitor transactions for anomalies that could indicate threats.

Operating as "white hat" specialists, the team also plays an important role identifying vulnerabilities and threats in the DeFi ecosystem. To date, through active research and reproduction, the team has reproduced over 100 known attacks, enriching industry knowledge. They've uncovered 30+ vulnerabilities and coordinated fixes across projects, significantly strengthening security and recovering $1 million+ from past breaches.This comprehensive approach - spanning assessments, monitoring, research and response - exemplifies the team's round-the-clock dedication to protecting clients' crypto holdings.

A Team of Award-Winning Security Leaders

The Amber Web3 Security Team is  composed of top cybersecurity experts with extensive experience and specialized knowledge. Led by Dr. Chiachih Wu, the team members each excel in their fields and actively participate in global security competitions and pioneering research. 

Dr. Wu received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from North Carolina State University, where he specialized in system security, virtualization security, and Android security. In 2015, he co-founded the renowned 360 C0RE Security Team at Qihoo 360 which was awarded by Google as the “2016 Top Research Team” for 118 vulnerability reports. In 2017, Dr. Wu turned his focus to blockchain security and co-founded PeckShield, a leading blockchain security company. He later joined Amber Group in 2021 to head up the Amber Web3 Security team.

Another core member, "n33k", previously engaged in advanced security analysis of Linux kernels and V2X as a researcher at KeenLab. As a core member of champion CTF team A0E, he helped win consecutive DefCon championships in 2020 and 2021. At Amber, n33k continues breaking new ground in Web3 security research, having discovered zero-days and earned bounties from several platforms. He also served as previous captain of Amber Labs' skilled CTF squad.
